Photo Slideshow:  Original Change Project & Stop The Violence

On Saturday August 1st, Original Change Project teamed up with Mandell United Methodist Church for a Stop The Violence block party. The Austin community, on Chicago's west side, has been ranked number one in weapons violations within city limits. Original Change Project performed blood pressure and vision checks, educated attendees about stroke and diabetes, provided information for state health insurance programs, and hosted a free book giveaway. The outcome was amazing and highlights the need for greater access to resources in crime-ridden neighborhoods such as Austin.

Six people were shot outside a funeral service just blocks away during the Stop The Violence block party. (Read Article)
