The Health and Wellness Summit and Expo is a project sponsored by Sankofa Safe Child Initiative in collaboration with Congressman Danny K. Davis, the Illinois Medical District, and an array of corporations, health associations, social service agencies, government entities, and the faith-based community. The purpose of the Summit is to highlight and address problems associated with preventative care, access to healthy food choices, healthy lifestyle choices, chronic disease and treatment options in the 7th Congressional District and surrounding areas.
The 7th Congressional District has high prevalence rates of chronic kidney disease, diabetes and hypertension.
This high profile event will kick-off in the Illinois Medical District, at the Illinois Medical District building, located at 2100 W. Harrison. Several organizations and health related groups in the Illinois Medical District will host activities including the University of Illinois, Rush Hospital, Core Center, and the John Stroger Hospital.
